We came on Earth almost fearless. Just noise and the fear of falling represent some issues, otherwise the sky is the limit.
In the first years of our lives, we are frequently asked “What would you like to become, once you’ll grow up?” There are great chances to give an honest answer, while we are 5 y.o. as it comes fom our real self.
Then, the external world, parents, school, society play a strong role in our becoming. In most of the cases, we make rational decisions and follow a career and life, that seems at least “politically correct”.
As far as I am concerned, in the fist years of my life I was fascinated by movies, actors and the history of films. I used to be a kind of vivid encyclopedia of actors, actresses and film directors and names such as Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford and Greta Garbo were quite familiar to me. In that moments, I imagined myself working at the National Television, the one and only in that times…:)
Things turn out differently. I studied engineering and business administration and the left side of my brain made his duty. One day, the right side of my brain decided “to have a voice”. I looked carefully inside me and saw an ocean of opportunities. We live in an era of knowledge, information and technology and some changes are possible anytime in our life. Coaching and social marketing became my second nature, in the last couple of years. Like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, I follow my path. The final destination is not yet set, but I am truly enjoying my journey.
In the last months, I noticed people who decided to follow their hearts and re-define their professional identities. Irrespective of the past, the future could look different. An investment banker decided to open a cooking school, a bank manager starts to design clothes, an IT specialist would like to create jewels.
Look back in the past and remember what is your dream. What is that dream that gives you an incredible energy and makes you feel that work is more like play it. This passion could remain a hobby or may become a lifetime profession. It’s important to know it, have it and feel it. Do you sense the difference already? It takes time, passion, enthusiasm and work to materialize it, but it worth it. As Walt Disney said “If you can dream it, you can do it!”
